About Mrs. Huebscher

I am a Packer, Badgers, and Brewers fan, though Colorado teams are now my second favorite. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, my now husband, Ryan and I moved to Colorado. Last summer we married in Ambergris Caye, Belize. We now enjoy our home in Parker with our two cats, Jack and Cloey. When I am not teaching, I enjoy outdoor activities and reading. This is my third year teaching but my first at Meadow Point. Community Building Activities:
To develop a respectful and positive learning environment, I have implemented Community Building Activities. Some of these activities include the following:
- Greetings: Every morning we greet and acknowledge each other in a friendly tone.
- Cheers: As a class, we celebrate our successes with the use of a variety of cheers such as the roller coaster, DJ, and Hamburger cheer.
- Activities: Every now and then, the students are rewarded with fun, team building activities such as Coseeki, Alibi, and Pedoodle.
Logical Consequences:
When responding to misbehavior, my overall goal is to guide my students to recognize their actions and support their development of personal strategies to make positive choices the next time around. Some logical consequences I use in my classroom include the following:
- Take a Break: If a students behaves in a manner that suggests he/she needs a break, he/she will visit one of the extra desks in the classroom. A student may leave the desk when he/she is ready to respectfully join the class.
- Fix It: If a student damages something (self-esteem, materials, etc.), he/she will fix what was broken.
- Lose a Privilege: If a student misuses a classroom material or is disruptive during an activity, that student will lose the privilege of participation or use of the material. The student earns the privilege back once he/she demonstrates respectful behavior.
